Shifting with a relatively small amount of throttle open gets good results and 90%+ throttle it shifts seamlessly as well. It doesn't up-shift as smoothly if you are in the 50-80% throttle range from my experience. It is particularly unsettled if you try the 1-2 shift at higher RPMs at partial throttle.

Just long enough that you can make an upshift without any resistance as if you pulled the clutch in. They are really quite slick but totally unnecessary for street riding. You can do the same thing but a bit slower with your right hand.
